Home Renovations in Ottawa: Historic Porch Addition in Nepean

This home renovation in Nepean showcases how thoughtful design can breathe new life into a historic property. Located on what was originally the side of a 100 year old Nepean farm house, this project focused on creating a welcoming front porch that honours the building’s heritage.

The Simple Life: A Welcoming Front Porch

This project proves that you do not need thousands of pieces of wood to achieve appropriate embellishment and composition. By focusing on clean lines and structural harmony, the new verandah serves as a perfect example of how a modern addition can seamlessly blend with a century-old home.

The greatest compliment for this Nepean renovation came from a neighbor who remarked that the new porch looked as if it had been there for years. This sense of permanence is a testament to the care, creativity, and diligence applied throughout the building process.

Client Testimonial

“Paul I just want to tell you how pleased we were with the care, creativity and diligence that you applied to building our verandah. You always seemed to be able to remember that it was our money you were spending. The greatest compliment we have received was from our neighbour who said that it was as if it had been there for years!” — Bruce & Vici
