Southern House

A gem from the rough

As renovators, we suffer the sins of the previous builder and this bathroom proved to be an extreme case. Modernizing this dysfunctional eyesore required reworking every surface; from ceiling to floor, and all walls in between. Now displaying a rectilinear grid of perfect, full, 2” by 12” tile from floor to ceiling, this brighter space shines where it used to fall flat. More than just aesthetics, the new space provides greater efficiency and features including heated floors and towel racks, keeping things cozy and warm during those cold November mornings. Storage has been completely redesigned, removing a redundant linen closet, moving the sink wall out an extra 9”, adding a wall-hung vanity, and finally, adding recessed His and Hers mirrored medicine cabinets. These changes have eliminated the knocked knees while using the toilet and provided room to float in the luxurious new 6′ tub. Transitioning from the shower to shave or style hair is a breeze thanks to the foldable 5′ glass shower screen, quiet energy efficient fan, and heated vanity mirrors. Putting the polish on this freshly cut gem are Waterfall Carrera Marble tile accents to the shower fixtures, tile threshold, tub back wall, and mirrors.
