GOHBA Renovation Award: Placel House Spotlight

Award-Winning Transformation: The Placel House Kitchen & Living Room

At Denys Builds Designs Renovations, we believe that exceptional design is defined by how well a space works for the people who live in it. We are proud to highlight one of our most celebrated comprehensive projects: Placel House, which earned the GOHBA Design Award for Best Renovation under $40,000.

Located in the prestigious Rockcliffe Park neighbourhood of Ottawa, this project serves as a prime example of how thoughtful planning and over 40 years of expertise can transform an entire home.

The Transformation: Kitchen and Living Room

The goal for Placel House was to turn a poorly designed, divided layout into a practical, warm, and inviting family space. Our team reimagined both the kitchen and the living areas to create a seamless flow.

Key features of this award-winning renovation include:

• Open-Concept Living: We removed a major dividing wall between the kitchen and dining room to increase natural daylighting and create a modern, connected feel.

• Craftsman Architecture: A “Touch of Craftsman” design that harmonizes with the home’s original architecture, a style we specialize in for Ottawa areas like New Edinburgh and The Glebe.

• Functional Family Spaces: While the kitchen became a culinary haven with a luxurious island and custom pantry, the living room was transformed into a warm, inviting family hub.

• Meticulous Execution: We take pride in maintaining a clean work site and providing additional support to make the transition into a newly renovated home as easy as possible for our clients.

Award-Winning Standards in Ottawa

This recognition from the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association (GOHBA) underscores our commitment to providing high-quality renovations across the city’s most desirable areas. Whether we are working on a modern kitchen in Westboro or a heritage restoration in Sandy Hill, we bring the same award-winning attention to detail to every project.

“Paul, we want to extend our appreciation for the fantastic renovation you completed. You listened to our needs and were able to turn our vision of a warm, inviting family space into reality.” — Trish & Chris, Placel House Owners
