Award Spotlight: City of Ottawa Heritage Award – Atwood House
The Atwood House is a beautiful example of how we protect the visual history of our city. We are honoured to have received the City of Ottawa Heritage Award of Merit for the elevations and exterior restoration of this historic property.
Enhancing Historic Curb Appeal
In our work with heritage restoration in Ottawa, we often focus on the “elevations”—the exterior faces of the building that the public sees. For the Atwood House, we meticulously restored the architectural features that give the home its unique identity.
This required a specialized touch in window restoration and traditional carpentry to ensure the new work was indistinguishable from the old. By modernizing the underlying structure while preserving the historic “skin” of the building, we were able to enhance the home’s longevity and its contribution to the neighbourhood’s character.
A Legacy of Recognized Craftsmanship
This Award of Merit is one of many we have received from the City of Ottawa over the past four decades. It underscores our commitment to “Structural Artistry”—the idea that a home can be a high-performance modern residence while still honouring its past.
Our heritage project gallery is filled with homes like the Atwood House that have been saved and celebrated through award-winning design. If you own a historic property and are looking for a team that respects its history, we are here to help.
